BP Science Night

Cainhoy Elementary/Middle Schools

September 20, 2007 -- On Thursday night September 20, 2007, heavy rains could not stop the learning at Cainhoy Elementary/Middle School where students, faculty, staff, and community members were treated to BP Science Night.  BP, one of our remarkable business partners, hosted this event.  Cainhoy’s multi-purpose room was transformed into a learning lab with a wide variety of exhibits.  Some of the topics covered were crude oil to plastic, biodiversity, alternative energy, chemistry, physics, PB careers, parents are teachers, too, and nature.

The very knowledgeable, hardworking, and patient group of BP employees volunteered their time to make a difference in the lives of the awesome children that are a part of the Cainhoy community.  The night ended with a delicious dinner, and all of the children were given a goody bag filled with science-related items to take home.

Cainhoy Elementary/Middle school students, faculty, and staff consider it a privilege to work side by side with our neighbors from BP.

That is the wildlife exhibit, showing examples of wildlife common to South Carolina.  BP has received many awards for environmental education and efforts to preserve wildlife.
