February 4, 2008 From the desk of Janet Hodge, SCACTE-HST Division President: Welcome to a new year, 2008, and as
your president for 07-08, I want to share some thoughts with
you about our organization. I will let you examine number
related to membership, opportunities available to all Health
Science Technology Educators, and dates to add to your
calendar. I will start with our recent HST Professional
Development Winter Conference held in First, I want to thank Eric Cockrell
and Lisa Wofford, thanks for working hard on the awards section of this conference! I was so proud to announce all of our award winners at the SCACTE board meeting on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008. Good Job! I encourage you to put our conferences
on your calendar each year. (The
month for our winter conference may change next year to
early February.)
Add the Education and Business Summit held in the summer
when we meet again.
This year it is in I want to thank the HST Division for
paying the registration for me to attend the National ACTE
Convention December 13-15, 2007.
It was my first time attending and I was truly amazed
at the opportunities that are available through our
organization. I was delighted at the choices of programs we
had to investigate while there and the keynote speakers we
heard were just fantastic. If you would like to attend this
year, it is in Grace Decken, our SC-ACTE President
–Elect, is one of our own SC HST Teachers from Now, I want to encourage each one of you to support our SC Association for Career and Technical Education (SCACTE) and our division for HST by joining TODAY if you are not a member. MEMBERS make the organization and we NEED you! This is a great opportunity to network with others from our state and nation, serve as a division, state, or national officer, or receive an award as a member of ACTE, SCACTE, and HST. (ACTE is the national organization-Association for Career and Technical Education, SCACTE is the state organization for CTE, and then our division.) Believe me! You want to join today!
